What is firmware?

The programs/software that provide the basic functions on electronic devices are referred to as firmware. Swisscom regularly updates the firmware of its own devices to fix bugs and implement new functions.

Firmware updates for your devices are performed automatically, usually at night, as soon as a new version is available.

Internet-Box

You will find the current firmware for your router on the Web Portal(opens in new tab)Select Expert mode and click on Internet-Box  Firmware in the menu.
Please note that you only have access to the Web portal when your home network is connected to your Internet-Box.

The availability of the new firmware is displayed in the web portal of the corresponding Internet box. As soon as expert mode is activated, a banner appears on the start page indicating the firmware update and providing further information. (see illustration below).

To update the Internet Box, follow the link in the banner and then select the "Start firmware update" button. This will initiate the update process, during which the latest firmware version will be downloaded and installed on your Internet Box. Please ensure that the Internet Box remains connected to the power supply during the entire process to avoid interruptions.

blue TV

Automatic updates are regularly carried out on Swisscom TV-Boxes and the blue TV app to enhance your TV experience and add new features.

These updates cannot be managed manually and are rolled out gradually. This means that an update will target a small group of users in the first instance before it is gradually rolled out to a wider group.

For more information about updates, visit the Swisscom Community(opens in new tab).
