The TV-Box 5 is the latest and most versatile TV box from Swisscom. It is made mostly from recycled plastic and is our smallest and most energy-efficient TV box to date. Nevertheless, it packs a lot of power: it is fast, powerful, and offers excellent picture and audio quality. It now also supports Dolby Atmos for an even better sound experience for Switzerland's most popular TV. In addition, it offers additional entertainment options, including access to Google Play with thousands of apps. The box comes with the perfectly matched Swisscom remote control with buttons for Google Assistant and Swisscom voice control.

Material

• The TV-Box 5 housing is made from 65% recycled plastic.
• The volume has been reduced by 53% compared to the previous model, so that less material has to be used.
• The giftbox is made from 100% recycled cardboard, with no plastic used.
   

Energy consumption

The TV-Box 5 is 35% more energy efficient than its predecessor.  It also has a power-saving function that reduces the power consumed in standby mode to 0.3 Watt. You can find an overview of power consumption here(opens in new tab).

CO₂ footprint

To determine the environmental emissions, a comprehensive life cycle analysis was carried out for the TV-Box 5 and the product carbon footprint was certified by TÜV Süd.

The TV-Box 5 generates 10.5 kg of CO₂ during production and around 9.6 kg of CO₂ over a 5-year period, with an average Swiss electricity mix. These emissions are roughly equivalent to a car journey of 110 km or a train journey of 2’500 km. Details of the emissions calculation can be found here(opens in new tab).
