Protection of minors in the media

The magazine for parents from the "Elternhaus" Foundation is extremely popular with very many parents. It addresses all topics related to bringing-up children and helps parents with their everyday challenges, whether big or small. For many years now, we have contributed towards providing an understanding of media education for young people with a column in each issue.

Our products offer parents and legal guardians functions and settings that can be used to block a large part of the content relevant to the protection of minors.

Subscriptions for minors only with parental consent, blocking of websites with illegal content, duty to inform parents - these and other obligations have been imposed voluntarily by the large telecommunications providers in Switzerland. Since 2010, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, ZHAW, and Swisscom have surveyed over 1000 young people every two years regarding their everyday leisure and media activities.

The electronic class register, Helloclass, reduces costs. It also increases the everyday exchange of information between the classroom and home. And it offers possibilities for providing the right documents for completing homework.

With our teaching unit on gaming and the world of e-sports, we give schools the power to respond to the media reality of our young people. Not learning how to get better, but learning what to do - that's what our learning tool aims to provide.

Putting the technical developments of today and the foreseeable future into context. Explaining how they work, and showing what challenges come with them: this is what the teaching unit #digitalistüberall wants to achieve. The wide-range of materials are available to all schools free of charge.
