Clientis extends contracts with Swisscom until 2023

Berne, 29 April 2016

The 15 Clientis banks as well as 10 further regional banks will also receive comprehensive IT and BPO services from Swisscom from 2018 to 2023. Contracts for connectivity, IT jobs and outsourcing of business processes for payment transactions, securities handling and securities data management have been signed.

Clientis AG, the shared expertise and service centre for Clientis banks and other regional banks, has been working closely with Swisscom since 2009. The existing contracts between Clientis and Swisscom are valid until the end of 2017. In 2015, Clientis AG and the 25 banks decided to outsource the operation of Finnova banking software to another provider from 2018. At the same time they decided to extend the contracts with Swisscom for connectivity, the provision of approximately 1,000 IT workstations and BPO services for payment transactions, securities handling and securities data management. This leaves a significant part of the previous contract volume at Swisscom. According to Peter Kobel, Head of Operations at Clientis AG, the major reason for awarding the contract was the right overall contract package.

According to a market research institute, Swisscom and their bank processing centre provides outsourcing services for 54 percent of the Swiss banks. Starting in fall 2016, the Zürcher Kantonalbank will also be processing its payment transactions via Swisscom.
