New features of the Vivo packages: faster uploading for fibre-optic customers and twice the speed for best-selling offer

From 8 June, symmetrical bandwidths will enable Swisscom fibre-optic customers to upload and download data at the same speeds. For the same price, upload speeds will be up to ten times faster. In addition, Swisscom is doubling the capacity of its best-selling product Vivo M for all customers, enabling them to surf the web at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. For customers who simply require a fast Internet connection, Swisscom is now offering speedy Internet access without telephony or TV. In the meantime, Swisscom TV 2.0 has registered strong growth, surpassing the benchmark of half a million customers.

“Thanks to our investments in network infrastructure, as well as in copper and fibre-optic networks, our customers are now able to benefit from faster speeds,” says Marc Werner, Head of Swisscom Residential Customers. “We have already connected 1.5 million households with ultra-fast broadband and are expanding still further.”

Furthermore, while the latest update will mean significantly improved capacity, subscription prices will remain unchanged. Customers with a fibre-optic connection will soon be able to upload and download data at exactly the same speeds, allowing videos or holiday photos to be uploaded faster to cloud services such as Youtube, Facebook and Flickr. Backup of personal data on cloud services such as iCloud, Dropbox or Swisscom Docsafe will also benefit from the considerably higher upload speeds. The symmetrical speeds will not only aid residential customers, but also companies with a fibre-optic connection and a “My SME Office” combined offer.

Twice the speed for Vivo M

Swisscom is doubling the capacity of its best-selling product Vivo M, enabling all customers to surf the web at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Depending on their connections, customers with copper lines will therefore be able to enjoy speeds of up to 100 Mbps for downloads and 20 Mbps for uploads, while fibre-optic customers will receive a symmetrical bandwidth of 100 Mbps for both downloads and uploads.

New offer for customers only wishing to surf the web quickly

Swisscom’s Vivo packages currently allow customers to individually combine Internet with unlimited fixed-line telephony and Swisscom TV 2.0. From 8 June, customers who simply want to surf the web quickly and conveniently will be offered a new alternative, as part of Swisscom’s “Internet 250” package: for CHF 99 per month, customers can enjoy speeds of up to 250 Mbps for downloads and up to 50 Mbps for uploads on Swisscom’s fast fibre-optic network. Those who do still want Swisscom TV 2.0 or a fixed network connection will be able to choose from Swisscom’s selection of Vivo packages as before.

Strong customer growth: TV 2.0 exceeds half a million customers

Offering a broad range of content, easy installation and operation, and time- and location-independent use, the advantages of Swisscom TV 2.0 are increasingly winning over customers. After just 14 months, more than half a million customers are using the service. Growth has been particularly strong in recent months, having been boosted particularly by the switch-off of analogue TV in many regions.
