But how exactly did this online implementation of the Future Day at Swisscom come about?
Back in August, we at Swisscom decided to offer the Future Day as a purely online solution. Creative ideas were needed for implementation during the COVID-19 phase. A team of apprentices developed a customised tool to manage the registrations and offers. As individualised learning is part of our DNA at Next Generation, we also relied on a marketplace system for the Future Day - following the example of our innovative training model for apprentices.
The offer for the Future Day was ready and we were in the starting blocks. Unfortunately, the second wave of COVID-19 came earlier than expected and more strongly than anticipated. As a result, the National Future Day was cancelled by the office. Was that it? Finished at the end? We could not and would not accept that the children of our employees would have to miss out on Future Day. We therefore decided to continue with the online event. Because the children are our future, and Future Day is important in our eyes. Especially in these difficult times.
Last Thursday was the day: Future Day had arrived and the children were sitting at home in front of their screens with excitement. They had signed up for the following activities, for example:
