Swisscom: First telecoms provider in Switzerland to offer tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router for the fastest and most reliable WLAN connection available

The new Internet-Box 5 Pro is now available from Swisscom. The Internet-Box 5 Pro is equipped with the latest tri-band Wi-Fi 7 technology and is exclusively available to Swisscom customers with optical fibre access. The new Wi-Fi 7 WLAN standard for home networks is more stable, more reliable and more resistant to interference than previous standards and enables customers to enjoy up to three times higher WLAN speeds.

The new Internet-Box 5 Pro

Even faster and even more capacity – the new Internet-Box 5 Pro from Swisscom. The Internet-Box 5 Pro is equipped with the latest tri-band Wi-Fi 7 WLAN standard, which offers a cumulative WLAN speed of up to 18.3 Gbit/s. Its introduction means that Swisscom customers are among the first in Switzerland to be able to benefit from the new WLAN standard.

The new Internet-Box 5 Pro creates a powerful WLAN home network and is perfect for households with multiple networked devices. It enables our customers to enjoy a combination of 10 Gbit/s surfing and the most advanced WLAN yet”, explains Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Residential Customers and member of the Group Executive Board.

Maximum performance and the best available WLAN

Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 technology operates on three frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and the new, low-interference 6 GHz band) and delivers WLAN speeds up to three times faster than the previous Wi-Fi 6 standard. The improved latency also provides more efficient signal transmission, which virtually eliminates delays. The Internet-Box 5 Pro is therefore perfect for simultaneous streaming, gaming and surfing in networked homes. Equipped with a 10 Gbit/s Ethernet connection, the WLAN router offers maximum speeds, even on wired connections. The Internet-Box 5 Pro also offers popular features such as guest WLAN, Internet blocking for devices and VPN for maximum security.

Thanks to the integrated low-power mode, the power consumption of the Internet-Box 5 Pro can be reduced by up to 98%. Customers can set their own schedules – the router switches itself off and back on again automatically at the selected times, which saves energy and protects the environment. Sustainability is a top priority even during the production of the new Internet-Box 5 Pro. The casing is made from 65% recycled plastic, while no plastic whatsoever is used for the packaging.

Free with blue Internet L subscription

From now on, new Swisscom customers taking out a blue Internet L subscription on fibre will receive the new Internet-Box 5 Pro worth CHF 349.– free of charge. Existing customers who switch to Internet L on fibre will also receive a free Internet-Box 5 Pro, as long as they do not already have an Internet-Box 3 or 4. All other customers with optical fibre access will have the option to buy the Box, regardless of which subscription they are on. You will receive a loyalty discount of CHF 200.– and you can opt to buy the Internet-Box 5 Pro for only CHF 149.–. The old Internet-Box can be returned to any Shop for reconditioning or recycling.
