The current Speedtest from Ookla makes one thing clear: Swisscom holds top spot with average top speeds of 50.11 Mbit/s for downloads and 15.79 Mbit/s for uploads. "This is the second time in a row that Ookla has confirmed that we have the fastest mobile network in Switzerland," says a pleased Heinz Herren, CIO and CTO. "A great success, which shows that the high investments in our mobile network are worthwhile. After all, it is these investments that make it possible for us to actually provide the high speeds to our customers."
From July to December 2018, measurements were taken with the Speedtest app from Ookla using crowdsourcing. More than 400,000 tests were evaluated. Swisscom has improved in relation to the last measurements. The Speedtest shows the actual speed at which the testers are travelling in the mobile network. This is particularly important when using data-intensive services such as video streaming, Instagram, Snapchat or WhatsApp. Doug Suttles, General Manager and CEO of Ookla said: "With millions of tests taken using Speedtest every day, Ookla has developed a robust and comprehensive view of worldwide internet performance. It is our pleasure to recognize Swisscom as the Fastest Mobile Network in Switzerland based on our rigorous analysis. This award is a testament to Swisscom’s exceptional performance, as experienced by their own customers, in Q3 and Q4." The victory in the Ookla Speedtest is further confirmation that Swisscom has the fastest mobile network in Switzerland, following on from the the top positions achieved in the mobile network tests by Chip, PC Magazin and connect.
