More than 4,500 customers are already connected to the tiko Swiss storage network, one of the largest smart grids in the world. Using cloud and machine-to-machine technologies, tiko enables grid management in real time, while allowing customers to benefit from potential savings, a more secure power supply and transparency with regard to electricity consumption. Swisscom Energy Solutions is now an active player in the energy market and produces balancing energy on behalf of Swissgrid.
tiko was selected as a flagship project of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, given its importance as a component for the further development of smart power grids. The national grid company Swissgrid also welcomes solutions such as tiko: “We welcome innovative solutions such as tiko by Swisscom Energy Solutions or those from other providers, such as electricity companies, for ensuring the necessary optimisation of the Swiss energy grid,” says Pierre-Alain Graf, CEO of Swissgrid.
Swisscom Energy Solutions is focusing on cooperation with partners from the energy sector and with heating system manufacturers to ensure that tiko helps to optimise the Swiss energy grid in a sustainable manner. Its latest partner is regional power supplier EKS in Schaffhausen, which is now offering its customers the opportunity to sign up for tiko free of charge. Customers can monitor and optimise their electricity consumption simply and easily with an app. They also benefit from potential energy savings, a clear overview of their heating consumption and are notified via SMS or e-mail if their heating systems malfunction.
tiko is available throughout Switzerland, regardless of energy provider, heating system manufacturer or telecommunications provider. You can register for tiko at www.tiko.ch
