In the spring of 2023, I was considering what step I would like to take after my apprenticeship. Discussing my professional development wasn't easy, but it was still very valuable in determining my first steps after my apprenticeship. Do I want to go into HR, finance, IT or marketing? There are numerous options at Swisscom - which doesn't make it very easy to decide in favour of one direction.

During this decision-making process, I took a closer look at my strengths, weaknesses and interests. From this, it became clear that my interest in IT should be prioritised and that there are opportunities in various companies to use my strengths to add value. So my job search journey began in earnest and I applied for various positions both externally and internally. I was invited for various interviews and received several job acceptances. In the end, I felt honoured to have had the choice between an internal and external job.

When deciding on the right job, I analysed all seven factors that were important to me. I analysed the following factors:

  • Supervisor
  • Team
  • Work content
  • Route to work
  • Wages
  • Social benefits
  • Gut feeling

In the end, I decided in favour of a position as ICT Starter 1 with our attractive ICT employer Swisscom. Because the working conditions and benefits speak for themselves: Swisscom offers me many opportunities and I can pursue my interests in IT as a commercial employee, but I can also continue to apply the knowledge I have built up during my apprenticeship at Swisscom and know what to expect within the company, and the network I have been able to build up over the past few years also serves me well.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Swisscom for this opportunity and I am proud to continue to be #ready and to be able to add value to the company with my strengths in my field.
