Swisscom brings free Internet to schools with SAI

Since 2002, every compulsory state school in Switzerland and all cantonal schools have had the opportunity to access free Internet as part of Swisscom’s “Schools on the Net” (Schulen ans Internet, SAI) initiative.

Swisscom offers an Internet connection (free of charge up to 500 Mbit/s or subject to a charge for faster transmission speeds) plus a reliable and high-performance security solution. A firewall and content screening are available for all connections.

Security in the school network

Security options can also be added to your connection on request. You receive a professional, cloud-based firewall that protects your school network efficiently against external cyberattacks. The integrated web filter protects your pupils from online threats by allowing you to easily block access to specific websites, providers and content.

Maintenance and configuration can either be entrusted to your Swisscom IT partner or managed independently – administrator rights can be assigned according to your preferences.*

Swisscom SAI Internet gives your school maximum flexibility and performance. If required, you can add various chargeable functionalities such as IP telephony or networking with other school locations within your school community.

*Note 
Swisscom never monitors data transmissions by pupils or teachers. On request, the traffic protocol that logs web access can be disabled and the decryption of https traffic turned off.
