Our base for further digitisation projects
The SV Group is an innovative catering and hotel management group with over 8500 employees. It operates staff restaurants and canteens in Switzerland as well as in Germany and Austria. Activities in hospital and home catering, event catering, hotel management and public catering round off the core business area. The SV Group places a great deal of importance on surprising its guests each and every day with great culinary experiences and genuine hospitality. Within the SV Group, financial and HR processes are reliably controlled with SAP.
Challenge
The quality-oriented company needs a reliable SAP infrastructure. All 600 operations within the SV Group in Switzerland, Germany and Austria have access to the SAP systems. As SAP will only support the current SAP R/3 or ECC 6.0 version until 2025, all SAP customers will have to renew their ERP systems within the next few years.
The SAP landscape of the SV Group was relatively new in 2012 due to a comprehensive system redesign, and the processes fulfilled current requirements. After the "Discover & Prepare" phases of the S/4HANA Transformation Factory, which was carried out together with the Swisscom SAP specialists, the decision was made to use the brownfield approach for the switch to S/4HANA.
Solution
The SV Group is an early adopter and – supported by Swisscom SAP experts – was one of the first companies in Switzerland to switch to SAP S/4HANA 1709 with SAP standard tools (brownfield). All interfaces were converted to SAP Process Orchestration, standardised and stabilised. SAP Solution Manager was introduced for mapping business processes, solution documentation and all test management activities, and it will also be useful for future projects. The catering and hotel management group introduced S/4HANA "smoothly" on October 1, 2018, and all SAP systems run in the Swisscom Enterprise Cloud (S/4HANA private cloud).
