Demographic scenarios
In the years ahead, the age structure within the Swiss population will undergo a dramatic shift. In the best scenario, the number of people aged 65 and upwards will increase from 1.5 to 2.6 million. This is one of the factors contributing to an increasingly senior population.

According to Scenario B, the median age of the population will rise from 42.3 in 2015 to 47.1 in 2045. This median age is estimated at 46.2 in 2045 in Scenario C and 47.9 in Scenario A.
