My start

When I started my apprenticeship at Swisscom three years ago, I had no idea what to expect. I still remember exactly how I entered the room in Genfergasse in Bern on my first day. I saw my fellow apprentices for the first time. We started the apprenticeship together and got to know the world of Swisscom. One of the biggest moments for me was when I got my own badge! I was able to complete my first project in the recruitment of new apprentices. That was an absolute highlight for me.

What did I particularly like?

The apprenticeship at Swisscom was a privilege for me. I always felt valued and respected. During my apprenticeship, my interests increasingly focussed on recruitment and marketing. I was able to pursue these two topics in my projects thanks to our exceptional training model. Of course, I was also able to learn about numerous other topics such as sustainability, photography, diversity, politics, etc. There were many things that I liked about my apprenticeship at Swisscom, such as the collegial atmosphere among employees, the fact that everyone is accepted for who they are and that we support each other. I was able to build up a large network, which will certainly be a valuable tool for me in the future. Thanks to our training model, I was able to deviate somewhat from my profession and try out other areas, which gave me very exciting experiences and broadened my horizons.

Projects

Many people see it as a challenge that we are always allowed to apply for projects internally. Personally, I see this as an opportunity to develop myself further and it is particularly helpful for the future, as I know exactly how I will have to apply in the future. Thanks to our training model, I was also able to do various smaller side projects. A side project can be a one-off assignment lasting several hours or several days, weeks or months. For example, I was able to help out at First Steps or at various events such as Energy Events, Energy Air and Energy Star Night. In the first year of my apprenticeship, I plucked up all my courage and applied for the promotion team project at Energy Star Night. I got the project and was allowed to represent Swisscom on site with other apprentices. We were all given a Polaroid camera and Swisscom clothing. Together with another person dressed as an avatar, we took pictures of the visitors and encouraged them to come to the Swisscom stand. I enjoyed the project so much that I wanted to take part in other events too. This wish was fulfilled in 2021. When I was asked if I wanted to make a Tiktok video(opens in new tab) for the Mute the Hate campaign at Energy Air. Of course, I was very happy to accept the offer and this short project also gave me many new insights into Swisscom that I would not have gained otherwise.

Review

Looking back, I can say that my apprenticeship at Swisscom was a great time for me, I learnt a lot and I'm really looking forward to continuing to work at Swisscom after my apprenticeship. I would recommend all future apprentices to be open to new things, build up a network and definitely enjoy their time.
